The local authority deemed my parents well off, so I got nothing else. I got a job as an ice cream man on Saturday’s and Sundays. My daughter was in a similar position when she went to uni, she worked in fashion shops to help pay her way. I’m not saying the Elephant Santa Light Christmas Sweatshirt is fair, it wasn’t then, I am just saying some people could do a lot more to help themselves. I went to school & got a loan but it only covered tuition. I was working a full-time job while going to school full time.

I think people have the assumption that most students can live at home and are fresh out of high school when in reality that’s not the majority of who is going to college, especially at 2-year colleges and trade schools.
